Schwerin - East Germany

Eventually after all that time not working on my blog I added some new pictures from my last day trip in Schwerin which is located in the northeast of Germany to my blog. There is no specific relation between me and this city of about 80.000 inhabitants apart from that my former neighbour and best friend has moved there when I was 14 I think.
Schwerin is the capital of the federal state called Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Like most of the cities in the east of Germany it suffers of decreasing numbers of inhabitants. Anyway, you can tell its beauty and its elegance when riding through it on your bike.

Those red sheds are built in the Schweriner Lake and provide its owners with a tiny bedroom on the top and a boat garage below it. They reminded me of little garden sheds in allotments just for hobby boat owners and not hobby gardeners. In former East Germany many people lived in big blocks of houses without a garden so they needed space to spend their freetime in.

Similar boat sheds with balconies - very peaceful and relaxing!

Schweriner Pilsener - beer from Schwerin that does not exist anymore I reckon?! I've never seen this anywhere before...
I have no idea what the big 'N' stands for above the beer commercial but behind my back there is a warf. Maybe there is a relation to that.
Typical for East Germany to my mind are the grey lanterns as well as the grey overhead power cables, a relict from oldern times.

Trees in the water in winter time - I liked the reflections of the trunks in the water. They make the perception a bit desillusionistic.
